Walls

Walls

A Poem by That1Nerd23

We build up walls and pray they don't crash down

We quiet our thoughts and don't make a sound

Hidden faces, hidden dreams, we want to discover what love really means

So we pick up the pieces that fell to the ground

We sew up our hearts and seek the love we once found

But when shadows begin to cover the light

We creep back into the corner because we're too weak to fight

We wipe off our face with our sleeve

Because we don't want others to see

The pain we're feeling the hurt we can't erase

We just want to run and finish the race

But their words begin to travel again

And we rush back to the person we've been
