Drifting Leaves

Drifting Leaves

A Poem by That1Nerd23

Drifting leaves tumble to the ground

They fall ever so calmly

They do not make a sound

And all at once they are hugged by wind

They rise up and dance

                                                               They then are pinned

So they make the most of their new home

They try to remember

When, before, they'd roam

And such thoughts give them comfort

For they once were free

Watchful and alert

Now they are just captives of age

With withering leaves

Bound in a cage

They look to the humans and surely grieve

For our lives continue

And after 90 we leave

Thank you! ((: Glad you think so!
Beautifully sad. Great personification of the leaves; adds emotions to something so inanimate, yet so full of life, or in this case, death. Great little poem.

So beautifully bittersweet... just like autumn... the season of vibrant colors dancing in the cooler winds... You breathe it out with such depth; life and death... and how I love how you've painted each line.

You are welcome.
I enjoy pieces about the seasons. Especially Autumn. A good writing. I really liked the lines:
"Now they are just captives of age
With withering leaves
Bound in a cage"
