Autumn

This autumn has kissed the earth with her grace

And draped her colors like bright pure lace

She’s melted the sorrow of broken hearts

With removing all old and granting new starts

 

She whispers a melody in the trees

You can hear her in the rumbling leaves

O, listen to the birds as they sing praise

To our Heavenly Father, whom my soul has raised

 

Watch as the leaves fall to the ground

And embrace the mystery of where their bound

For soon the wind will run in haste

And all at once the leaves will be chased

 

They’ll play Hide and Seek

They’ll play Tag You’re It

Like children all but meek

As their mothers watch and knit

 

Yes, this autumn has offered her bliss

She’s offered magic for each lovers’ kiss

And on dark nights, still, she’s in the air

For she fragrances the wind with all her care
