Remember when, in the class room

You and another friend did sit

I heard laughter in the back of the room

And wondered what I’d missed

I turned around and expressed confusion

You’re smile put my soul to ease

And in that moment I sat wondering

If you could be the one for me

 

There’s just something about that tender smile

Something about your sparkling eyes

There is something about your humble confidence

That would never dare to compromise

There is something about your little whispers

That made me want to simply fly

And here I sit without you now

And all I can do is sigh

There's nothing like those secret crushes where we wish we could have made an acknowledge towards that special person. Now the moment is gone forever and so is that person who could have been the object of your affection. Fear of rejection or lack of courage to ask that one important question remain at the top of the list for this emotional misfortune. Great poem. I've had a few of those but not very many though. :)
