Cafe Conversation

Cafe Conversation

A Poem by That1Nerd23

“There is a new café in town,” she whispered ever so excitedly

“Oh yes? Would you like to go now?” her friend asked with a smile

“We certainly should, if you are sure you don’t mind!” anxiously she said

So off they went down the street, passing Uncle Mike and Jedd

“How about that,” her friend inquired, “they just now opened their door”

They were the first ones in and they basked and admired

The lovely seats, books, menus, and more

“May I help you?” said a man with a tender smile

Looking at each girl with respectable pleasure

“Yes, thank you. May we have but a moment?”

They didn’t do so well under preasure

“Certainly, ma’am; just give me a haller when you know what you want”

Then away with his work he went, ever so calmly and seeming not bothered

“Sir?” said one girl with wonder, “Yes, miss, how can I be of service?”

“Oh,” giggled the girl with enjoyment, “We now just know what we want”

They ordered and miss Ally who’d been talking watched this man and began to say

“Briana, I think I might marry him. This man seems like the perfect match”

“Ally, you do not even know this man, how do you know if you’ll clash?”

“Briana, are you kidding me, he’s perfect, just my type you see”

“I reckon he will compliment you well, but how do you know if your heart he’ll sell?”

“My heart? Good grief, what have they been telling you!?” He’s different by design.”

“I just think you should wait and pray, don’t even say, ‘he’s mine!’”

“I suppose you are right, I just don’t know…there is something about this man”

“He shines bright I know, he lets it show.  But do you think his love is out of sight?”

“Whatever do you mean, my love? You said it yourself; he’s bright!”

“Oh horse radish! Are you trying to miss what I say?”

“What in heavens are you talking about, are you having a bad day?”

“A bad day?” she sighed, “no my dear, I am just asking you to pray”

“I told you I would! Stop asking me, I won’t be the person you want me to be!”

“Your stubborn and foolish my dear sweet friend, why do you speak like so?”

“Like what!!?” she said as a voice interrupted, “I think you ladies should go”

The girls looked up and to their dismay, the young gent. Was standing there

They hadn’t thought of their tone that day, but is cost them many a stare

“I’m sorry, sweet Ally”

“I’m sorry, sweet dear”

“I shouldn’t have lost my temper”

“You didn’t lose yours as much as I mine

But we should have calmed down our weather”

“Yes, I suppose. Sir, everything’s fine. We are sorry to be such a bother

Say wouldn’t you forgive us, yes won’t you please try? We only wanted a simple 'Hello'"

"Yes, please kind sir, don't make us go!"

I like the discussion in the poem. Good to find a new place and get excited over new surroundings. I like the advice given in the poem. Thank you for the excellent poem.
