The ChurchA Poem by That1Nerd23When we think of church
we think of a duty We think of Sunday
morning brushing up and getting clean We think of hiding our
sins, our ugly secrets, our spots and schemes But church shouldn’t be
about that, it’s should be a place of comfort
Like when you walk into
the doors all your sin and failures can be uncovered But unfortunately our
pride and insecurity stands actively in the way We begin to open up but
then feel the sin like it wasn’t washed away We’ve got to get over
this fear, we need to be courageous
Open the flood gates in
our hearts and embrace the gift of salvation We need to knock down
our lovely façade of neatness Paul said that knowing
Jesus, he could boast in his weakness After all, His love and
grace is sufficient
When Christ looks at
you He doesn’t see your sin Because it’s washed
away from forgiveness So tell me then,
Church, why we mask our true selves Why don’t we let anyone
see when we’re hurting and need help
What’s the point of the
church if we’re not building each other up Where’s the
edification, I believe it hiding in the crud It’s hiding behind our
judgmental stares Our critical laughter
and lacking cares
So what are we going to
do to make a change Sit in a pew for
another Sunday game Waiting for someone to
care and show us the way Or are we going to
stand and be bold And say what we need to
