Fairytales and Lies...

Fairytales and Lies...

A Poem by That1Nerd23

The fairytales we hear as kids

Have proclaimed so many lies

We think that in order to be in love

We have to compromise

We have to uncover ourselves

We have to let people in

But true love is so much more

Than dipping your heart in sin

They tell us that we will just know

That is will be love at first sight

But true love isn’t about that

It’s about giving up your life

Husbands are to reflect Christ

Do you know what he did?

He died on the rugged cross

To remove all your sin

The church is called His bride

It’s His love and his pride

And that is how husbands are

To love and treat their wives

And wives are to serve them

Like the church serves the Lord

We are to help and obey

But not view love as a chore

Marriage is meant to be forever

Divorce in not a choice

So if you’re struggling in your marriage

Pray that God will help you endure

You have a rather condescending tone in this piece. But it was well written, your point was expressed clearly. This is well done and I actually enjoy it, even if it might be a little pointed.
