Blind

Blind

A Poem by That1Nerd23

If I lived only to see

I, myself, would be ever so lost

For I see not the spark or flame

I do not see the roses that bloom

My eyes do not any longer see smiles

Nor lovers dreaming in the moon

My eyes are shut, they cannot see

Blind they are, now and forever

Like a blindfold which covers life’s sparkle

My lack of vision doth not uncover

So closed they are until the end

And this is the life I such have lived

So now I know not what to do

For many believe I’ll never cope

From hurt and pain that others have caused

By casting me away into a dark corner

No one will accept me or praise me

Because I am forever blind

Then came a man who spoke to me

One lovely summer day

He seemed to know my hurt and pain

He told me that no matter what

My impact can forever increase

But first I must resolve to try

And not stop when they torture me

Before this man kindly departed

He whispered in my ear

He said, “Fear not, my friend, for I am blind, too.

But I can speak and I can hear

I can walk and I can run

I can smell and I can taste

And I can feel each warm embrace

So, dear sir, I see no hindrance

Which keeps me from making a difference

Now go, and make a change

If I could, I would take all your pain away. And we''ll never be blind together
