The Tree.A Poem by Jess HoldenPoem I wrote after a walk I had :)My strength is withering ever so slowly, I am losing all hope, I don't know what's left to do, I keep descending down this slope.
I started walking a lot lately, Just trying to keep my mind busy, Then I ran into something quite magical, The thought just makes me dizzy.
I was walking in a deserted forest, With no animals around, None in the trees or sky, None even on the ground.
Until I came to the foot of a tree, Its roots both twisted and withered, Its bark half torn away, To which it sent a shiver.
The tree was tall, Almost touching the sky, A hole in the center of its trunk, But no animal dare lay inside
The tree stood free of anything else, It stood out amoungst them all, Only I would dare to stand close, No fear of the tall.
I began to wish, Wish with everything I had, That maybe someday, I would have nothing I could call bad.
I saw this tree, It was the thing I would look up to, Whenever my day was bad, I would look and take a second view.
I would be strong and survive every storm, Just like the tree, I would wear my scars with pride, Just like the tree, And one day, I know I'd find the true me. © 2011 Jess HoldenReviews
