Afraid of you.

Afraid of you.

A Poem by Jess Holden

You say I'm worthless,

That I need to do so much better,

But I don't.

You say I need better grades,

Is honour roll never good enough?

You say I need better friends,

Mine are weird and bad influences,

But you don't know the real me.

You talk like you're the man of the house,

When all you do is hurt.

That's not your job.

You threaten to leave,

Or even kill yourself,

Every night I pray you do.

I can't stand another night,

Spent in the hospital.

I can't stand another night,

Afraid of you.

Sadly many children are experiencing something like this. Great write.

I really liked this piece! It is sad that the subject of the poem is being abused by her father, who is supposed to love her. You did a good job personifying that sadness and putting it into words. Very well written.

Powerful, good job. We sometimes pray for the worst to happen to the ones we hate or are not close to. I understand the feeling, though it is quite different with me. But I understand your thinking and where you come from. Good use of emotions as well.

i know it can get draining with suicide threats from a drama queen who only wants to keep them around..most of the time those sorts do not mean it..they simply use that as guilt tactics,,I do not pray they do, I hope people go where they are supposed..
