Blood Moon.A Poem by Jess HoldenA poem written during an eclipse, and hearing the wolves howel. The snow covers my sneekers, "I never have to go back," I coach myself as my pace increaces, My headphones blare, As the world turns to a blur.
Its cold out here, Its cold in the real world, No shelter to protect me, I'm open for attack.
A childhood memory crosses my path, I take a chance and let it lead me to my destination, As I follow I slip on my every step, This was not meant to be.
I turn back, Wanting to leave this memory, Let the forgotten stay lost inside my laberinth of lies, And run fast.
Running at top speed, My sneekers barley gripping the cold snow, I carry on through the biting cold and harsh winds, As growls follow behind me, The evil beasts are out to play, Awaiting the next ususpecting victim.
I stop, I've ran out of breath, As I glance up towards the winding path ahead, I see a panther, calm as night itself, With a tale of a snake, They eyes of a lion, And the determination of a hungry beast.
It watches me as I stand motionless, The following creatures not far behind, It remains still as it watches me squirm in my skin, The panther bows it's head, And rund back into the darkness of the night.
Home is in view, The creatures are slowing, Tired from the chase they stop, I am alone once more, Like I always was.
The snow covered my sneekers, "I never have to go back" I murmur, My breath slowly returning, As I look up at the sky, The moon goes blood red, As a howel pierces the silence. "I never have to go back," As the howels increace, And the world turns to a blur. © 2011 Jess HoldenAuthor's Note
