WHO AM I?

I am like the dawning of day, the light of the moon
That sweet scent in may, that tells summer is coming soon

I am like the beauty of a rose, the majesty of the eagle
With the gentleness of a dove, like a lion I'm never feeble

I am like the joy of the rain, the happiness in a pool
With the complexity of the brain, the wisdom of a fool

I am like the touch of the breeze, the soothe found in water
Strong an grounded like the trees, steady I am I never falter

The weak I make strong, the shy I make bold
The voiceless I teach my song, the homeless I shield from cold

Great men tremble before me, mighty kings bow at my feet
I have been and I will always be, have me and you shall know no defeat

I am the conqueror of all, the wisest man I make a fool
But I can also be your downfall, or your salvation too

With someone I came out with from the same mother, we look exactly the same
We have always been mistaken for each other, but I'm true and the other is but vain

Have any idea yet on who I am? the hardest rock I can make soft as cotton
I can be found anywhere I can be found on a farm, ever fresh I never get rotten

So I ask again, WHO AM I? you who claim to be knowledgeable and wise
I place on a peak and make you believe you can fly, I can turn to laughter, your weeping and your cries

All your pain I can soothe, sometimes I'm a little rough
But when I'm true I am smooth, for I am...........I am -------

wow very nicely done. i can tell what you were inspired by was that of love. for that is what inspires most of us all for it is what binds us all together ether through loss of love,finding of love, or fear of love we are all bond by love. woundful job.keep on sharing your work you are very good. thank you so very much for shareing!

Initially, i thought God or Jesus, but i have chosen love as my interpretation of your poem. It conquers. It soothes. It causes pain. It brings joy. It is the sunlight. It is the moonlight. It is the waves on the sea, the oxygen in the air......love is everywhere, and in everything.
This is the second time on cafe i have come across what i term a "puzzle poem". And gee, they are tough to work out!! Haha.

The only thing that pops in my head thru-out this read is "God" (or whatever version of the universal love source that any reader might prefer). But since you mention "twins" toward the end, I'm also reminded that this could be one's muse, or one's inner strength / self-confidence (or something like that). But I'm no good at riddles, so I'm mostly just enjoying your artful descriptions of harmonious things, while balancing juxtapositions between contrasting things. Very interesting & thought-provoking.

Thanks for the review and the attempt to answer the riddle, but the answer is LOVE, and the other twin is LUST. LOVE conquers all. Please I need your thought on this, should I edit the poem and put the answer? or should I leave it the way it is?

Now that I read your author's note again, I see the hint! And I also re-read, with this answer in mind . . . it's perfect! I don't think you should give the answer away too easily, unless you get tired of people not being able to guess. It's weird how obvious the answer seems to me now! *smile*
