A Night Spent In ParadiseA Poem by Jerry Doran
It's late and my eyes are getting blurry.
I've been starring at the t.v. now for hours on end. On these lonely nights this set's become my only friend. Howver sadly tonight he's stopped talking to me once again. My eyes are growing more tiried and the images start to blend. As I drift off to sleep I can feel the solid ground stickily seperating from my feet. My world is changing now ther's a ocean beneath. I fall into the salty water. Where I am greeted by a mermaid and her lovely daughter. Their angelic faces smile at me as I am suspended weightless. Colorful tropical fish swim by my wanting eyes. Their inquisitive looks remind me that I'm alive. Now feeling at home in this underwater paradise. I start to explore my confines. The beauty of the ocean explodes as a purple jagged coral reef is within my reach. As I extend my arm to touch A glint of light crosses my vision. Arousing my suspicion I inspect. Then like a aparition what is revealed is a partially opend chest. Once I touch and feel I find this seaweed covered tomb is where a golden treasure has for years been seeled. At first sight my eyes are peeled. I run my fingers through the shiny golden coins and like lightning excitiment shoots from my head to my heals. Just as in my mind thoughts start to flash of now buying everything I've ever dreamed of and more I suddenly wake up cold and confused on the living room floor. © 2008 Jerry Doran |
