Sunrise

Sunrise

A Poem by Jerry

Farewell my blissful rest, for I must leave you now,
cause the dawn breaks, and I must face the world somehow.
I must face a world that cares not at all for me.
A world where I am just a speck in life's vast sea.

Yonder is the morning sun with its golden hue,
though the morning is young still, with its coat of dew.
As the cool of night gives way to the heat of day,
I must brush the sleep from my eyes and go my way.

I must stand tall and straight and somehow play the man,
and embraced the day with joy, if I all but can.
Yes, the night gave me comfort, but maybe too much,
For tranquility can be deceiving as such.

But I must hasten, and wash the sleep from my eyes,
for behold the dawn breaks with its golden sunrise.
