Cracks

Cracks

A Poem by jerry atrixx
"

Perception is in many ways everything or will become everything

"
All things cyclical are not always empirical
or erstwhile for that matter
In life and love we want for more than what we may have
or even believe we deserve
Be you the optimist or naturally cynical
Our perception can be the deciding  factor and we
Our own worse enemy
If we are careful
I mean really analyze ourselves
Grab hold of the skirt tails of reality
We may see the pressure cracks before the levee breaks
and we drown in our own misfortune
lest we learn the former indeed is not the return of the latter

I like the play on formatting here, with the foregrounding of the bolded words- placing even further pressure on those funny little words that stood out in the lines themselves due to placement. I almost felt like I was reading a poetic summary of a philosophical discussion at a university. A very striking way in which to organize your thoughts, I think. Concise, straight to the point and yet.... the formatting gives it that extra oomph that makes you think twice about the way you first read it. Wonderful.
