GROWING OLDER

GROWING OLDER

A Poem by Jerrald Adjhei
"

Have thought of growing old? the fear people have established in themselves.

"
GROWING OLDER.
I
They call me the happiest man.
They say I’m the definition of happiness.
But they don’t know my sadness
If they knew.
II
A man who has no worries they assume
Saying worriers and I are parallel lines
But they don’t know my worries
If they knew
III
The man who kills both a lion and
elephant at a time.
The man who fears not the Otumfuo*,
Even if he stands in the palace rebuking
him.
So they don’t know my fear.
If they knew!
IV
It is nothing that makes me sad.
It is nothing that keeps me worried
It is nothing that grows the fear in me.
But growing older is what has taken over
me now.

Very creative, "worriers and I are parallel lines" great sentence. "The man who kills both a lion and
elephant at a time" and "who fears not the Otumfuo*" is truly blessed (and a little scarey). Thank you for posting and letting us read your work.
