Sunflower

Sunflower

A Poem by jermaine

Out in the field,
Alone and aloof,
Beautiful, down to the stem,
swaying in the wind,
like a belly dancer in the middle of a crowd.

Silent yet alluring,
Affectionate but strangely distant,
far from my grasp,
Among the roses, yet you shine like the sun,
Teasing, making me want
another whiff of your fragrance.
Please sunflower, don't run.

Immaculate in every way,
From the roots to the petals,
Exuding the very essence of beauty,
Yet you make me cry.
Why lie among the daisies?
you are one of a kind,
And the birds of the sky
sing your name,
sunflower sunflower sunflower.

I really loved this! The imagery you place before us is gorgeous. (: The only criticism I have is that I think the second stanza could go without the line:

"Please sunflower, don't run."

It just sounds really forced.
Excellent write! :D

Breathtaking beauty in your words! A sunflower swaying in the breeze....alluring and seductive really. The personifciation of the flower is stunning! Could be a metaphor for an infatuation with another human being. I liked this a lot. lydi**
