You Opened my Heart

You Opened my Heart

A Poem by Jeremy Wyatt

You Opened My Heart

Long years nailed shut
soul crushed coffin tight
I dared not to dream
that my heart could take flight
Desires were relinquished
all my hopes became fears
I was crawling through glass
for grey year after year

But your light found a way
to get in through the cracks
and the moon that was waning
has started to wax
You gave me the hope
In my mind is a voice
there is love and there's light
and there's hope and a choice

It took three sets of keys
to unlock all my mind
Summer Autumn and Winter
a lock  each to find
Now as spring shines down
with your care and your grace
I just treasure the smile
you put back on my face

No matter how dark it may be, the light is always there. Sometimes, you find it; sometimes, it finds you.
And when it comes in the form of an angel, the discovery is sweeter still.
Lovely, heartfelt poem, Jeremy.
