Deep in Your Eyes

Deep in Your Eyes

A Poem by Jeremy Wyatt

Deep in Your Eyes

Deep in you eyes
is the flame of the west
the strength of a woman
to pass every test
The world has grey faces
a weight on your back
but you brighten dark places
and face any attack
I can only write words
I can't turn your life round
but I see always a smile
in your face will be found
You'll conquer this world
with your love and your light
your white wings unfurled
for those with far sight

Oddly, Jeremy, the subject of this poem is not a woman, to me; it is how I see my country--at its very best.
Admittedly, She does have a long way to go.
