A Thousand HeartsA Poem by JeremiahhA thousand hearts suffer,
burning with the pain of desire. Anticipating the warmth of being with the one they love. So close to being theirs that they can almost feel the tender touch. . . A thousand hearts scream while their future walks out on them again in a hurry. Trying their hardest to not be ignored. But slamming as it closes, the door blocks their view. . . A thousand hearts sulk in the sadness of never being heard. Together their tears form an ocean, devouring even the largest ships in their hurricane of emotion. Creating destructive weather, no longer satisfied, only eliminated in hopes that it won't do more damage. . . A thousand hearts ache, with the weariness of uncertainty. Too early yet to tell if together they could have built the tallest skyscraper, magnificent above all others. Or if their construction would have crumbled with time along with hope. . . A thousand hearts fade to less now than a thought. So little now left from the brilliant past. No longer even a memory of being forgotten. . . A thousand hearts reek becoming corpses of possibility. Left now is the aftermath of a battle of wishes; far beyond dead and unable to be granted. © 2010 JeremiahhAuthor's Note
