My Addiction
A Poem by Nathaniel Fahey
She was toxic. We were toxic. But I was so under the influence, I didn't care
You were my ecstasy. When you came into my life, you brought a burst of energy and colour, that. And like a drug addict, I soon faced your addiction. I craved you. Your attention and your affection became all I cared about. You became all I needed and all I'd ever need. But with your highs, came you bitter withdrawal. The long nights of your absence soon took their toll. The time would stretch to the ether and back again. Missing you was my only thought.
You were bad for me. But I still miss the high.
