Voyeur to the DawnA Poem by Jennimy CricketPoem about watching the sunrise. The hour before dawn is the loneliest hour; The latent lag time between nature’s night watch And the brave first note of sunrise that Surrounds each voyeur to the sky’s dilution In swirling thoughts that, though with no meaning, Fill their host with abject grief. Solitary grief. And fear; The flitting shadows that seem to shape the comfort of darkness Into the corners and confines of deepest memories. The ones you’d forgotten but are dredged up With the pre-dawn’s power to awaken the old And silence the voices of hope. And yet, The sun still rises, And burns away the lingering fibres of terror’s web With rays of light, steadily stretching And herding the shadows back to their margins Till all is light, And all is well. And finally, I slept. © 2010 Jennimy CricketAuthor's Note
