Wind SongA Poem by Jennimy CricketShort poem inspired by my dormitory view...I opened my window to the waking winter And the wind whipped in to claim me To whisper its wonders on unhearing ears Of things it had slipped through and seen
It told me of a hollow tree That lies beyond the river’s rein That, though abandoned by a tree sprite’s grace, Through the shell of it’s corpse lived again And oh, the nooks, the crannies that gaped And chorused each note of Wind’s song The grass-maids that danced in wanton whirling ‘Bove river-washed diamonds that shone It told me of towns, countries and continents In which it had tarried and twisted; It tryed to tell me of all these things... But yet my ears resisted. I opened my window to the waking winter And the wind whipped in to claim me To whisper its wonders on unhearing ears That, alas, heard only wailing. © 2010 Jennimy CricketReviews
