I saw her...

I saw her...

A Poem by Jenny DelVecchio
"

This is written in the perspective of a male. Why? because I wanted it to be. Plus I think it means a bit more this way

"

I saw her just the other day

She stood stock still at the bus stop

I saw her kick a rock a mutter a word

When those boys teased her from the corner

I saw her smiling with all her friends

I saw her face light with joy

I heard her laugh, one not too odd

All naught but hours ago

I pulled out my best suit and tie

All just minutes have past

And dressed in a fine black

I sided up to a pine casket

And I saw her once more

The picture chosen was one that fit her indeed

She had a broad smile

And her arms around two friends

I said goodbye to her

I remember seeing her

and hearing her voice

I know it wasn't more then weeks ago

It seems so strange

To have her gone now

I saw her once more in my old age

Marked by her granite stone

It made me think back to the time

The final day

And I know I saw her

But what could I have done?
