Will You Come With Me?

Will You Come With Me?

A Poem by Jenny Davis

Floating in and out of conscious
on a daily basis of confusion
My soul's fists clenched in angst
over a bed of fiery wonder

I wonder
I wonder
I...wonder

When will the throws of compassion
be gently laid upon a carpet of truth
Where lies the green grass of living
awaiting a vacuum that extracts blood
from the hands of the people

The people that loved once
lived once, appreciated once

The silent whisper of simplicity
sitting on the ears of every man
who walked and worked without worry
of neighborly stabs from the backside
of a mind gone mad with greed

With competitive eyes
burning holes in pockets sewn
into poverty
By tricks of the trade runners
waving white flags of bullshit

Now wafting outside a parking lot
where trees used to dance in the air
preserving a life worth saving
with population control just a glimmer
in a wild cat's eye

Again, when?

When will the statues of dirt come down
to break the faults of the earth's solemn sound
Starting with one and counting...

Will you come with me?

This is a well written reflection on the state of the world today. I feel a lot of hope or optimism - not quite sure which, I guess this depends on who goes with you. If Robert Luna follows you will be saved!

Often I wonder about destiny, not mine but the world, is this pre-determined? maybe things get so bad that we eventually start again as children with nothing, picking up pieces to put back together.

I was reminded of Charlton Heston at the end in the Planet of the Apes film when he saw the Statue of Liberty half hidden in the sea and cried 'No!'

Well, maybe our futures can be seen in our imagination, not sure if this is good or not.....

You are so full of passion and fire for change. I admire that in you and in your work.

You always hit the nail on the head when it comes to real life issues and you do so with such eloquent, beautiful words.

Always beautiful writing!

I'll come with you. This is a great, but sad piece. Rain..
