Don't Look- Don't Listen

Don't Look- Don't Listen

A Poem by Jenny Davis
"

This goes out to all the people of nonacceptance towards creative difference and lifestyle

"

Take a deep breath;
What I am about to say takes energy-
on my part...and yours

Imagine a place where you're not welcome-
Even the friendly places aren't friendly;
Just a wall

A wall that blocks those who are different
You aren't allowed to lift your head over
Making you invisible-
A zero;
divisible-
by zero

Others whispering, but you hear:
How they detest you
How they want to hurt you
How you're such a waste...

Waste?

Let's see- could it be
that waste is defined and confined to;
Those who are so sad-
So... misinformed and narrow minded that
they may as well be sitting outside an incinerator
built by their creator
awaiting that place they so feverishly throw in your face
when they see you are not like them

And hate?

Hate is just another way to convey- discontent;
Hurt those who can't be beaten by you
I can see Sisyphus now- knocking all the others down
whoever was able to roll the stone up that great hill-
How envious he must have been;
to never taste life on the winning side-
Oh what a devilish emotion- pride

But not here- not now- not today
Didn't like what I had to say...

Then don't look- don't listen

There are so many narrow minded people out there who judge people to quickly based on race, religion and even the way they dress... some even make assumptions based on what someone else said about them and it such a shame... people are people and to hastily disregard someone is not only cruel but you could be missing out on a great friend. Kudos os such a powerful write on the decaying of humanity.

I'm one hundred percent behind you on this one; any unreasonable attitude that is unusually resistant to rational influence is defiantly, 'out of order'!

Race, sex, ethnicity, sexual orientation, age, and religion have a history of inciting prejudicial behaviour; it's up to all of us to stand up against such attitudes - to not do so - is NOT an option!

Great rant and roll!

LOL! Clearly written. What we may say my be ugly, hurtful but true and if you don't like it
Then don't look- don't listen.

Love it to the point.

If there's one thing I can't tolerate it's intolerance LOL But seriously yes I hate it. For people to attack someone because they are different or live a different way than we have chosen is wrong. To then wave the flag of Christianity as the reason and the way of such hatred is religious hypocrisy. All of us miss the boat on perfection and we're all floating in the same river towards oblivion. We could help each other float to shore, but oh no...let's pick on the weak ones, push them down and call ourselves loving.

Excellent! I have a very narrow view of bigotry and ignorance; and this is a wonderful ode to those who feel as I do. I can't wait to get deeper into your catalog. Nice job and thanks, Robert

oh Jenny, this poem has got substance for alllll of us.. we must be a modern part of optimism in this oldfashioned greedy hostile behaviour around.....you write here pro despaired in this human race...we shall never categorize...never build classes...this is fantastic. it is a part of the buddhistic thought.....my favorite stanza was

Hate is just another way to convey- discontent;
Hurt those who can't be beaten by you
I can see Sisyphus now- knocking all the others down
whoever was able to roll the stone up that great hill-
How envious he must have been;
to never taste life on the winning side-
Oh what a devilish emotion- pride ---------- this was good iwth Sisyphus... so it is in the corporations. who can say he has got a friend that is his colleage? no one. he is an enemy, they fight who is doing a better job and who is the best best ....all is about ego desire, envy and lack of altruism. fantatic writing, Jenny. I loved this piece against darkness in the society its blood and terror. this is also the way to lead out from nightmares: to write meaningful, uplifting and compassionate poetry and teach altruism without teaching. lovee youuu.

Where have you been all my life and why aren't you on my friend's list? I am sending you a request, and all I have to say is, this is BEAUTIFUL and obviously penned by an equally beautiful person that cares about others!

Love the title, first off. Very catchy. In fact, it made me WANT to look and listen. There's just something about telling someone not to look or listen. LOL

Secondly, this was down right truth and needed to be said.

Thanks for brightening my edge of the continent! Hugs, Carole
