White Moon

White Moon

A Poem by Jenny Davis

White moon
you bring me up
just to bring me down
floating behind clouds of illusion

Dare you
pierce my dreams at twilight
only to rouse me abruptly
with the searing blare of the sun

O' father of lies
how you twist and torment
the tides of right and truth
forging a path to destruction

With alcoholic innuendos
screeching tires, beeping mouths
spouting lessons in the morning-
when you finally take a bow

To grow up in a house with an alcoholic parent must be tough as they slowly destroy them selves and there family emotionally and physically... then to wake up the next day and go on like nothing happened but the child never forgets... your words speak with intense emotional and turmoil that alcoholism leaves people in... sad but true and excellent work.

precisely why my ex is ...well...my ex. Never had to deal with this growing up - and wasn't having my kids grow up that way. Not only was he an alocholic but he made for a mean and nasty drunk. tragically true write - and I loved the moon metaphor here - poignant subject matter tackled beautifully, as always, by you. :-)

*hugs*

You have something with this poem really.. It has a great beat and requires a few reads (and that is always a good thing)

Fantabulous write, heartfelt, deeply emotional and sad to have endured this growing up. Painfully honest. Shelly

oh, this is my new favorite of yours! consciousness explained when looking up to the moon, we speak not only to tell others what we think but to say ourselves what we think..in other words, always amazed by your insights and word combinations. thank you for reading this small arrogant non sense of mine - einstein letter. I just thought, he was an arrogant b..... hmm, he was. did you read also about this letter - on that site?

Dramatic, wonderfully written. I wasnt expecting it to be as emotional as this, but I loved it any way. Great write, Jenny.

Jenny, this is powerful. I like the way you carried out the metaphor with the sun and moon. I read it a few times to be sure I was getting it all. This piece is so multi-layered and there is a lot to be drawn from it. As usual, great write!

Haunting truth. Something many of us can relate to on some level.... alcholism. Whether it be a spouse, parent, sibling, friend.... self. It destroys, as does all poison. And when I refer to poison, I mean anything toxic... from a substance to a personality (bad energy).

Very well written!! I love your work... :)
