A Rose Is Gone...

A Rose Is Gone...

A Poem by Jenny Davis
"

For my Grandma

"

Clouds weep

mourning laughter and color.

Wilting flowers sigh with the wind,

sere and somber.

A rose is gone...

plucked by bestial hands of time.

Yet she'll grow anew again

and grace the garden

in splendor.

I have a good friend that is watching his grandmother (who has always been a mother to him) fade slowly away. For that and many other reasons this is touching to me.

Poetry that is lasting always reaches outward from the heart of the poet and into the hearts of those blessed enough to read it.

This is such a beautiful piece... I'm sorry for your loss.

I had to come back to this... yes every woman is a rose. we are so sensitive. so tender and fragile, this was again such a rush of awareness trough the brain..loved it.

This is a beautiful heartfelt tribute to your grandmother & one that I'm sure she'd certainly be proud of. I love that you used the analogy of the rose to express her endless beauty. Though plucked by bestial hands of time her beauty shall grow anew & grace the gardens in splendor.

Absolutely BEAUTIFUL...

I'm so sorry for your loss hon. Lost my mom and grandmother within a year of each other - and grief can be a palatable thing sometimes. What a loving write for your grandmother here however. The rose comparison is lovely and perfect. Our lives here are very much like that - in the grand scheme of things we are only here for a short time. Take care sweetie; miss you!

*hugs*

A very beautiful tribute and to compare your grandma to a rose is such a touching thing, yes she will bloom again in spirit as I am sure you will constantly smell her sweet aroma as she watches over you... may her bloom forever grace the nature of humanity.

I really like this line, and good use of personification.
