Lady Tree

Lady Tree

A Poem by Jenny Davis
"

The trees are still unclothed and it's April!

"

Lady tree - in waiting
Why do you smile?
It seems like forever,
you've been hanging there-
suspended in winter's curse
gray, pale and under clothed.

No eyes, nor wings
have graced your arms
that stretch to the sun
for warmth-
Yet you, dear lady,
remain hopeful.

Alive you are
under that cold blanket
that covers-
inhibiting your beauty;
Hope is your comfort
while you shake.

Your bare bark
skin stands stodgily-
poised as a mannequin;
awaiting Spring
to dress you,
fret no more, She's coming.

I love the feeling that this piece gave me of hopefulness and the power of the image of a long winter coming to an end to a much need renewing of life and nature. The embodying and embracing of life as a whole. The weary traveler finding a place to rest and regain their strength. So vividly does this play in my mind as I feel refreshed and alive today this couldn't have come at a better time.

Great Job!!!!!!

Oh that's just beautifully written...well penned...

Really though I love the imagery you have here of the lonely Lady Tree waiting for Spring as she stands desolate in the winter wind. After the wind last night I guess you got inspired. Great work as always :)

I love this piece. You're so descriptive and I love that you give the tree such soul. I love to watch the trees come back to life in the springtime. They are so beautiful and hopeful to watch.

A truly uplifting piece... I love the bare tree as it represents that no mater how down things are there is always hope for better days you just need to believe and reach for them... a great message to the human race... very well done.

this dialogue mimics what I have always thought what trees may anticipate before spring. this is wonderfully written. it is like I have the suffering of trees, whose limbs weighed heavily with ice.
