Nowhere Was Here

Nowhere Was Here

A Poem by Jenny Davis

The ball drops kisses
on lashes that flutter
in shimmering lights
that quietly disappear
with closing of the clock.

Old songs and new
mingle in the shadows
where the line between
then and now smudge
with a thumb of change.

            -Nowhere was here-

A place of laughing
remembrance
and tearful forgetfulness,
a time that exists in spirit
but erased by flesh.

Jenny this is so true and touching in that moment we can easily be lost in those moments as the Old Year ends and the New Begins. Old memories, Lost loves. It seems to be an almost magical place where time seems to stand still. you expressed it wonderfully.

A soft, quiet reflection on the changing of the guard. The border town of yesterday and today and tomorrow. Quiet nostalgia. Wonderful write, my friend. It's been awhile since I've had a chance to read your stuff. Cheers!

the celebration of the New Year brings with so many emotions; sometimes a profound sadness for what was lost the previous year, mixing with all the hope a clean slate and new begginnings can bring. what an excellent poem; reflecting all that and more.

What sprang to mind, when reading through your wonderful composition, was a sense of poetical reminiscence and nostalgia, wrapped around a juxtaposition of joy and sadness.

A very clever, as well as, an impressive write!
