We Have Learned To Live With Each Other

We Have Learned To Live With Each Other

A Poem by Jenny Davis

I'm not a star
giving off light against your black.

I can't watch you from afar,
guide you with immortal wisdom.

The moon and I
have never spoken,
we have learned
to live with each other.

I'm not  the sun
offering color to your pale flesh.

I can't melt the ice,
that hangs from shingles of your soul.

The trees and I
have never spoken,
we have learned
to live with each other.

I am you
in another form that lies of its power.

I hold no insight
in eyes that are fashioned like yours.

God and I
have never spoken,
we have learned
to live with each other.

The bond ends there.
Soil doesn't nourish me.
Only He knows what you (and I) need.

Oh, Jenny, I don't know about that. I think you've been speaking with the moon and stars and sun and trees and God more than you think. I did like the thoughts you express here, about being a simple person trying to live. We all know, deep within our bones, what it is we need to sustain us; and it is awareness of those needs that leads us to our dreams and our hopes. Chase down those stars. Cheers! Rob

To keep peace in times of war or not. There is a distinct understanding in this where you are basically saying you can't be all to everyone. I think when one really understands that about themselves they begin to grow further and live happier. This one is masterfully written.

oh Jenny, I absolutely loved this poem how you offer a solution how two person can be together just creating honest compromise "Learned To Live With Each Other" but you were talking to him trough your universe.

The spiritual beauty of your words is touching in this poem, Jenny! You have a special bond with the trees and the moon. That is obvious from the way you write of nature and the grandor of the universe. I believe you DO hold insight...and in this poem you have reached out to share it with us. Great work. Lydia

This is such a insightful peace. You may not be giving yourself the worth that is yours. Your piece shouts " I'm merely human," but you are extraodinary in many ways. Never underestimate your value, but I understand your feelings of being insignificant and common. This was very moving. Rain..

Loved this .........the repeated phrase

we have learned
to live with each other.

The feeling of unity and the coming together, Awareness, and the wisdom that we do learn through so much in life and know what is right and wrong.
But then the last lines could bring anything, truth, love and an understanding in our world that we all
need to come together.
Lovely lovely piece.

Our eyes were watching God, and vice versa. I like the exchange in this piece. How he speaks through nature and how the narrator is so elusive in this piece, it is hard to discern because both the source and the created are reaching out hands towards each other.

That kind of reminded me about all of the troubles and shortages in the world. What people need and all of the natural things you were talking about. It was a nice poem. Incredibly deep. It's cool that you can up with things like that.
