We Have Learned To Live With Each Other

We Have Learned To Live With Each Other

A Poem by Jenny Davis

I'm not a star
giving off light against your black.

I can't watch you from afar,
guide you with immortal wisdom.

The moon and I
have never spoken,
we have learned
to live with each other.

I'm not  the sun
offering color to your pale flesh.

I can't melt the ice,
that hangs from shingles of your soul.

The trees and I
have never spoken,
we have learned
to live with each other.

I am you
in another form that lies of its power.

I hold no insight
in eyes that are fashioned like yours.

God and I
have never spoken,
we have learned
to live with each other.

The bond ends there.
Soil doesn't nourish me.
Only He knows what you (and I) need.

Oh, Jenny, I don't know about that. I think you've been speaking with the moon and stars and sun and trees and God more than you think. I did like the thoughts you express here, about being a simple person trying to live. We all know, deep within our bones, what it is we need to sustain us; and it is awareness of those needs that leads us to our dreams and our hopes. Chase down those stars. Cheers! Rob

I could read it over and over. And now, that I've found it again, I can put it back in my favorites where it belongs.

Learning to live with one another even if we are of different paths of insight, through the earth, wind, and fire, we seek our desires to grow on one's journey through the moon and stars of the universe.
