Aww, nice Poem. I like the simplicity and the relaxing invitation to a friend. All too often we don't stop to smell the roses and this is what your poem felt like to me, like stopping and remembering the simpler things in life.
Very cool writing.
Also, I want to thank you for taking the time to stop by my poem "complacent woman" - I appreciate your kind thoughts and words.
I see Woodstock. I dunno. I just can't shake it. The earthy atmosphere, the soothing rhythm of (perhaps?) a guitar, relaxing (with a little help from my friends?), the peace-sign reflected in nature... The last couplet summed it up for me.
For today is just one pebble in the sand,
and tomorrow is for sea shells smiling there...
That's such a prolific ending. It's a perfect ending. I love your short and sweet stuff, Jenny. :} "[T]oday is just one pebble in the sand" has such a huge effect on me. "[T]oday" is one big day, in comparison to the other grains of sand, but there are hundreds of days. Thousands of days. And we assume there'll always be more.
like the notions in the first and fourth verses, especially the first verse. I gather the lead goose does the most work and the others get a minor slipstream benefit...and that they take it in turns to lead the V.

The simplicity of this poem is just like life. It can be simple or complex, the choice is up to the person or persons. There will be days bad that need a friend's shoulder, but they should never be spent in vain.
