Vulnerabilities

Vulnerabilities

A Poem by Jenny Davis

The sky is black and blue,

hanging from a thread.

The twine is invisible,

as are the bruises.

The metaphorical use of colours to express despondency, defencelessness, and emotional despair in one's life, with so few words, is both sad and creative. An excellent composition.

Wonderful metaphor, so full of sorrow and pain...I can identify in a similar way I think...

I noticed this in my read request box and after mentioning vulnerability in my last review, I couldn't help but read it. It was surprisingly brief, initially, until the colour doused my thoughts and squandered my mood and then the last line framed the melancholy and abused vulnerability into a context that left a cold shiver run down my shins.

It could have been a coincidence of course.

A mere four lines but the effect is so powerful.

Interesting way to use the colors.

I like the idea of the sky hanging on an invisible thread (as scary as it is lol) - and the comparison to mental (I'm assuming) bruises (although maybe also real and physical, as in the past or something).

Brief, but complete.
Nice piece.

Thanks for sharing it.

I'm reveling in the emotions here; at least theoretically. I mean, this is obviously a sad piece. I think that the bluntness in the last line is extremely profound in its "i'mnotokay, but i'll live, i guess." I like the image of a thatched sky tying down the world, like the bruises are tying back some hearty feelings as well. So very powerful for something so short. :)

really pretty poem
I don't have enough information to determine the meaning, nor am i deep enough to interpret it as i see others have done so nicely :)
and i would hate to presume something innacurate :)
luv the colors and I feel kind of sorrowful at the end, with the word "bruises" which can only lead me to the obvious
but somehow, i think this is more than just the obvious.
