Shall I Wait

Shall I Wait

A Poem by JenniferMarie

Shall I wait for you
with the courage of a lion
when I am nothing more than
a hummingbird
seeking the sweetest of nectar
in a field of soft blowing flowers
I’d rather sleep and forget
that I wanted to grow old by you
I’d rather sleep and forget
our nights by the ocean
moonlight carried on waves
you, drawing a heart in the sand
then taking my hand, through the
door of the white adobe house
and when sunlight crept in
there was me, there was you.
but now,
I’ll go to sleep,
and remember.
