And the winner is...?

And the winner is...?

A Poem by Jennifer Elizabeth

I can see them starving,

hear them crying,

watch them dying.

I can say I'm thankful,

that I'm lucky,

but I'm lying.

I can hear them singing,

see them spinning,

watch them grinning.

I never know who's got it,

who is losing?

who is winning?

I can say I'm smarter,

know the answers,

aced the test.

I still don't understand it,

who is better?

who is best?

I can close my fingers,

got a hold on,

but can't stop

I can see above me,

see below me,

who's on top?

Almost Dr. Suess-like in it's brevity and wit, yet without sacrificing depth of meaning.
You are SO adept at couching your frustration and humor in lovely, consistent phrasing. It's an ability many struggle career-long to acquire, but few do. I foresee greatness for you, young woman!

Sounds par for the course in this society. This has a great flow to it. You should put it to music. I think it would make a great song. Kudos.
