For The Land Of The Free

A piece for all those who fight for their country, whatever that country may be. And especially for those fighting for me. No matter what the politicians are fighting for.

Fighting many miles away from your home,
follow your leader, this Earth you may roam;

finding out reasons the war had begun,

America's safety just being one.

Going through time trained in heat and full sun,

sent to the front against enemy guns,

pushing to get those soldiers on the run,
seeing first hand the faces of the young.

In horrid weather you still stand your ground,

even if backup is not to be found;

night lights up as deadly shrapnel surrounds,

brains echoes later with deafening sounds.

Life or death as choice, you find you learn fast,
learning tricks to avoid gasses and blasts,
drained of your soul, your tour's over at last,
heading home, hoping to make this your past.

In honor of your return, actions change,

from past wars to now their view rearranged,
Vietnam even caused some to estrange,

from the respect you earned you were shortchanged.

Truth be told I am so proud to know you,
the courage and fervor you have held true
gives me hope for this country's future days;
loyalty like yours can help blaze new ways.

Peace first and foremost lady especially if the wars are unjust wars that is fought for corporate America ( oil and others ) and the one based on all faulty intelligence which killed and maimed hundreds of thousands of innocent people in Iraq and Afghanistan. Wars should be directed only at the person or group that committed the act and taking in consideration innocent people at all times. I'm pretty sure you do not support the war that was waged on American Indians or any other groups in history.
I support truth and peace not pride which is a sin before the fall and waning to be the police of the world.
Only the wars that are necessary are the ones in complete self defense against the perpetrators only and to lift up some oppression on some people by helping them do the job not getting involved into their civil wars...My opinion only and I hope you don't get offended...:)

Okay, hold on, you do something that is often happening. You are mistaking my pride in the people who will fight for me and the country with what I feel about being at war with any country.
How do I feel about the war? I was not for it in the first place, I told everyone who said that it was necessary that it wasn't, that we were sticking our noses in other people's business for money and oil and that we would lose our troops over something that wasn't threatening the safety of our country.
So I'm with you. I am so against what is happening.
But I am proud of the people who would risk their life. To protect mine. :) That's all.

Wars are ridiculous and would be solved quickly if the real people behind the wars were put on the front line every day.
