Dear Old Dad

Dear Old Dad

A Poem by Pure Hope
"

Another poem from the drama/mystery alphabet poem series. D for deadbeat.

"

Dear old Dad why don't you call?

I'm lucky when I see you at all,

I know I'm your only son,

and we used to have so much fun.

Mom can barely make ends meet,

she is always on her feet.

There is hardly any food

and my clothes are wrecked but good.

I just wish that you'd stop by.

Or a call where you'd say hi.

How did I get stuck with you?

Deadbeat Dad, what do I do?

An excellent bit of writing on a sore subject. I guess there are reasons a dad would stay away, but the damage done to his child should overrule all else. I've known this in my own family, and understand what lasting pain it can cause.

A very nice poem on the reality of deadbeat dads that is plaguing some societies. It is good to bring it to people's attention...:)
