The Perfect Plan

The Perfect Plan

A Poem by Pure Hope
"

Another poem in the drama/mystery alphabet poem series. B for burglar.

"

The night was darker than the rest

for there was a new moon
It was too perfect as cover
to rob the old tycoon.

The couple had a fundraiser

a formal charity ball.

The man in black cut the alarm
and headed down the hall.

Last Friday he cased the grand house

installing new alarms,

which his pal talked them into buying
using all her subtle charms.

The safe was cracked in record time

so he grabbed all the cash,
on the dresser a box, he opened
taking jewels and stash.

He headed back the way he came,
his pockets and bags full-
As he went out the patio door

he ran into a pitbull.

She hadn't told him of this dog,
Kujo was unexpected.
He ran away fast as he could,

his body he protected.

He managed to climb the fence

with the money in hand,
got into a getaway car,
burned out on tar and sand.

Met later on that night, they kissed
and counted up their take.
Over two hundred thousand in cash,

a new life they would make.
