Hang 'Em High

Hang 'Em High

A Poem by Pure Hope
"

One in a series of 'alphabetically prompted' Mysteries type poems. This one was for the letter J- Judgment.

"

The gavel came down hard today,

the sentence fit the crime,

justice found good measure,

the criminal will do time.

Though the trial was trying;

dramatics did unfold,

in the end fact took the stand

and truth itself was told.

Murder and adultery,

the motive clearly shown;
his wife was going to leave him.

Bahamas, she was going.

But soon as he walked into

their sordid little fling,

he fell apart and grabbed the gun,

tore his heart, string by string.

The deed was over quickly,

blood cleaned, police were stalled.

Now sitting in a cell block,

divorce was a better call.
