The End.

The End.

A Poem by Jennifer Kiser

Day by day
I sunk further into the Earth
The bright delicate moments became agony
As I waited for the sun to descend beyond the horizon

The darkness turned into my sedative
The density of the jungle crawled under my skin
It clawed at my insides
Tearing my apart
Piece
By fragile piece

The docile world I once knew was dissipating
Disintegrating away
With every shade of nightfall

I could feel the blood course through my veins
The earth stabbed into my flesh
Ripping out my bones
And I could see the concretion of my mind

From then on
I was a shadow
Illuminated from within
Sailing across the forest floor
I no longer felt pain
Only the craving sensation asking of me.
Ordering me
To immerse myself further into the unknown

I became a body in a world without gravity.
Then a mind a cosmos of structures.
In a blur of moments
I dissolved into the element.

Streaming along within a collection of complete essences
My soul had drifted away in an obscure breeze
My frame melted into the core
The bliss inside carried me away.
And now?

I imagine myself balancing inside some crystal glowing orb.
Hidden galaxies and lifetimes away.
