Leaks

Leaks

A Poem by Jennesis

times before
times during
times after
when your smile doesn’t reach your eyes
when the tears leak from mine without me realizing
when the crash landed
and the pain buried me in its weight
time marches on as it always does
and we, existing in its flow
are forever changed

I'm not very adept at constructive relationship critique but I'm fairly skilled with words. This piece has all the words of heartache etched into its fabric. When the smiles are no longer heartfelt and only the tears seem real it foreshadows the collapse of both the trust and the love. Artfully crafted, I enjoyed the read.

My pleasure. I'm always looking for writers I haven't read, particularly poetry.
this reminds me of a couple relationships as they turned cold.
tears inside and out...we crash landed, but the plane was never the same afterwards.
Once damaged, we never get back to the same as it was. And time only increases the gap.
really like this one, Jen.
the before, during and after....all combine for a flurry of tears in the end.
