Infinite possibilities

Infinite possibilities

A Poem by Jennesis
"

I am struck at times by life's turns and changes.

"
Footfalls on the path
Reverberating through the earth
Sounds echoing through
The ever changing landscape

Pebbles crunching
Soft motion of smooth pavement
Muffled thump of pine needles
Softly splashing puddles
Uneven gait as
Boulders slow the pace.

The path ahead
Obscured and unseen
By corners and bends

Futures unknown
Developing, forming
With each step forward
Or back

There is not but one path
On this journey...

But one that is created
In time and space
Shaped with experience
And decisions

Obstacles teaching
Lessons we chose
Long before we set out
Destiny not predetermined

Infinite possibilities
Constantly unfolding
With every step.

Like parallel universes with infinite outcomes and occurring together, stupendous and quite incomprehensible for the human mind to absorb, so best just to accept the Road were on and see where it leads?
Infinite dreams I can't deny them
Infinity is hard to comprehend
I couldn't hear those screams
Even in my wildest dreams

Suffocation waking in a sweat
Scared to fall asleep again
In case the dream begins again
Someone chasing I cannot move
Standing rigid a nightmare's statue
What a dream when will it end
And will it transcend?

Restless sleep the minds in turmoil
One nightmare ends another fertile
It's getting to me so scared to sleep
But scared to wake now, in too deep.

Even though it's reached new heights
I'd rather like the restless nights
It makes me wonder it makes me think
There's more to this I'm on the brink
It's not the fear of what's beyond
It's just that I might not respond
I have an interest almost craving
But would I like to get too far in?

Can't all be coincidence
Too many things are evident
You tell me you're an unbeliever
Spiritualists? Well me I'm neither
Wouldn't you like to know
The truth?
Oh what's out there to have the proof
And find out just which side
You're on
Where would you end in Heaven or
In Hell?

Help me. Help me to find my true
Self without seeing the future
Save me, save me from torturing
Myself even within my dreams

There's got to be just more to it than this
Or tell me why do we exist
I'd like to think that when I die
I'd get a chance another time
And to return and live again
Reincarnate, play the game
Again and again and again.

Yes, live well & prosper !
The burden of freedom and contingency. Groundlessness. A step forward or a step back. Nobody to give us guidance.

We fragment life, we conceptualize it because our perception cannot handle reality.

Could you read my story Angst, dealing with some of the same infinities.

Well done!

An absolutely beautiful and enchanting poem. I walked with this poem as I read and watched as right before my eyes things changed, scenes became different and my direction followed the path that called out from the trees. This reads like life to me, an every changing adventure, some of good, some bad, some happy and some sad, but always something new. I loved the feel of this poem.

Beautifully written. The path we walk is ever changing, as you so eloquently say, with all the confusion and wonder it brings, we sometimes fail to see the simplest of things. We are thinking too much about the path we are on not to see the infinite possibilities that encompass us. Life is not a race and we should remember that more and slow down and appreciate what we have, instead of rushing by and only seeing the blur left in our wake.

You're welcome
Wonderful piece, something I can relate quite a lot to. There are many paths in life, some beyond bends and corner that one cannot see beyond, some where the destination seems clear and close but ends up being so much further than first expected, not to mention many pit-falls to blindside us and dead ends to disappoint. Ultimately I guess it's just better to keep going with what out intuition tells us and take things as they can and worry not over all the what-if's and stuff.
Anyway nice work :)

So true! Thanks Josiah for your kind words. ~Jennesis
Very nice writing--you've taken me on a special walk through woods and life. A map would be nice, but that would be too easy.

When I was younger, I thought I knew it all.
Then, I learned the less one knows the less they see, and the more one learns the farther they can see and understand or predict.
Ironically, now that i see a great deal farther, understand far more than I ever did before, and can predict far better, I've learned the greatest lesson of all, "Life is unpredictable." LOL!
Thanks for reminding me, Jenn, and for helping me realize even more than ever just how exciting not knowing really is! ; )
Beautiful, beautiful Free Versing, with spot-on line-breaks and a flow smooth and sweet as honey to my poet's ear.
I love your metaphor and how your soul unwinds … hugs 'n blessings! ⁓ Richard

Thanks Chris! Perceptions are always strong for the perceived. :)
I like the exploration of Destiny here. There is a strength in knowing the next level of possibility. Yet true Destiny is infinite. Each step forward, sideways, or retreating will reinvent our possibilities.
This speaks of vision to me...
Lovely empowering poetry.
