Welcome to the Club

Welcome to the Club

A Poem by Jennesis
"

A little humor from my bike crash this weekend

"
Welcome to the club

The crash epic
Failing to land
That jump
Rock ledges...
Are tricky

Skin scraped
Nerve endings raw
Blood seeping out
Bruised skin
Black and blue
Against white flesh

Chains broken
Wheels stopped turning
Tears from wounded pride
Not pain, (well a little pain)
Running a spring
Down my dirt stained cheeks

Yet on this brilliant spring day
Even through the wounds
Every cell in my body
Every part of my spirit
Soars like a hawk in the sky
My wings are spread
I'm alive
Living this adventure
We call life

Crashing just makes you know you can keep pushing your limits. Nice homage to the downside of riding.

Thanks so much Bev!
Did your body bounce, rebound, or splatt? or all three? Does make a difference in how we laugh it off or not. Some use the deed to write off ever trying again. Some brush themselves off and limp off to continue being who they are.

I've kissed the ground - thankfully, then flown again... I guess it's who we are.

At least you can laugh about it...
Hope you heal, or are healed, completely.
Great poem!

there are many wounds, many repercussions, rocky cliffs to fall against or off in life...you show this so well...life is a journey...a treacherous one at times...but it is an adventure....and if we are not afraid to take that trek...it can be quite fulfilling in the end.

wonderfully written piece that should have many more reviews than what it does.

Thank you Abderrahmane~
Falling off a bike is the worst. I remember when it happened to me...I think my pride was hurt above anything else.

I like how you dusted yourself off, and took in all that was around you.

I'm delighted you're back, Jenn!

I think my sciatica just flinched, lol!
Life is a club we all join when we enter this world… some people unfortunately focus on the rules intend of enjoying the benefits. Love the poem.

They most certainly are.
I love how light and airy you made this! It bring back memories of old summers for me, being so young and covered in dirt. Not a care in the world. Favorited :)
