Just thinking of my sister today and thought I would write a few thoughts

She
All at once
Is exactly like me
Yet completely different

She
My very first friend
And through the years remains
My very closest confidant
Still my best friend

She
Shares my history
Fill in the gaps in the house of memories
Like mortar between the bricks
As
She
Has been a carpenter
In the house of my soul
By my side
Through the pouring of the foundation
Through the construction of this life
And the tearing down
Remodeling mess
of late

She
Can share a laugh
that leaves my stomach cramping
But my spirit soaring

She
Understands the meaning
Of a look
Of words unspoken
Family dynamics unbroken
Unexplainable to another

She
Is carried in my heart
Always a part
Of me
My history
From birth to death
Until my last breath
My sister Sti

We go through life never realizing how much we depend upon that dynamic, that bond, that pinky-swear kind of thing that we share with no one else. And then, it's gone. What I would give to have her back for just a few more of those laughs that left my stomach cramping.
