Winged freedom

Winged freedom

A Poem by Jennesis
"

Musings from my drive to work

"
The Hawk signs
have been absent in
recent weeks

No birds of prey
to watch hunting
for their breakfast

Looking for their messages
in the sky
Gone from their usual perches
Their hunting ground empty
maybe
they're telling me another story

My car slides past
Empty light posts
the morning sky
a dull blue
I have been asking
is it a sign?
Or just a hawk?
Or not?
my answer has been
it's both

Is my hawk sharp vision lost?
No
The hawk is within
I am the hawk
soaring in the morning sun

Today
A flock of migrating
bright yellow grosbeaks
Every light post
Perched a yellow bird
puffy breasted in their pride
Reminding me that
change and growth
are the only constants
even in death

Winged freedom releases me
from the talons of stagnancy
Flicking beaks
Feathers unfurled
Flocks of different birds
fill my world

I'm where I'm supposed to be
Even in all the contradiction's
Synchronicity

"Reminding me that
change and growth
are the only constants
even in death " - Change and growth always exist. No matter how hard we try to resist it, the world will keep changing. We will have to accept it.

"I'm where I'm supposed to be
Even in all the contradiction's
Synchronicity " - Most of us "just know" where we are supposed to be. All we do in our lives is keep looking for that perfect place the place "we are supposed to be in".

Sometimes I wonder, is it worth wasting our time looking for that perfect place?.

A really good write. Loved the delicate wordplay here. Insightful and thought provoking. :)

You are Welcome :). Agreed, sometimes we have to trust our instincts.
Interesting and insightful take on our realities... How unique it can be when we really ARE aware of our selves.

Your flow of emotions find an answer in nature here and that is a wonderful thing itself...it definitely lends itself beautifully to this work of yours.
Great job! Cheers! :)

Thank you Roshan...I appreciate your words
I was snared by your title, but this reads with a voice that doesn't wish to be calmed or taken lightly.

How extraordinary, Jennesis!

You know I always say nature is full of life lessons when you pay attention… your poem is a prime example of that.

You are most welcome.
Isn't it funny ow we use nature to describe our emptiness, love, sadness ,and all the other emotions as if to protect ourselves from feeling the despair of difficulty.Enjoyed reading and you have described many of our lives with your imagery.

Outside too!!
The birds that prey together stay together - sorry Jennesis that snuck out. The poem is very vivid in its imagery and the deeper meaning is well conveyed. Freedom is change and change is freedom.

Deal - lol - great craic Jennesis - thanks for the much needed laughs tonight.
when we die there will be a sort of flying free feeling---
this reminded me somewhat of The Birds (hitchcock's) with all the birds on the posts....and the absence of Hawks, wondering where they were and will they suddenly appear to come after us as prey...
when life's synchronicity is thrown off, we feel uneasy...but then it comes back and we reach some understanding of how it is all supposed to be.
reminds me a bit of Tennyson's "The Eagle"---
