A white girls perspective in honor of Black History month...
Snow White
We dance our
Black and white dance
I see your sideways glance
As we walk by
How you stare from
The corner of your eye
What is wrong?
You think we don't belong
Together
Because of the color of our skin
You think it is a sin
I don't think we have come as far
As I would've hoped
Its worse from African sisters
And old boy misters
But even those
I think wouldn't oppose
Surprise me with their judging glance
As we do our dance
Your Dark hand intertwined
The Snow white one's mine
My eyes get misty
Sometimes it feels like 1960
very well said Jennesis, how can such prejudice still exist today, human's are just too weird i guess, 1960 to 2015, have we moved on, in some places maybe but the whole world needs an overhaul, your poem and writing are superb :)

I'm always a sucker for those "forbidden love" type poems. I loved this one, especially the line "your dark hand intertwined the snow white one's mine". And the name of the poem suits it perfectly. :)
In many ways we have come a long way since the 60's and Selma, Alabama. However, there are deep seated prejudices that I fear will take many more years to erase. What a wonderful poem this is. Children accept all races and colors....it's a shame adults can not follow suit. Lydi**
Diverse cultures are what make the world an interesting place. Why people are against interracial relationships in beyond me.

When you showed and read this to me on that stolen Thursday morning I was blown away and considering we are a new interracial couple it was and is refreshing we can have these open dialogues about race and still love and support each other....
