Locks and Keys

Locks and Keys

A Poem by Jennesis
"

This is been running through my brain for a couple weeks and I think it finally fell together this morning.

"
The lock of her
Soul is set
In perfect contentment
Every notch and ridge
Perfectly sequenced
And bridged
She's complete and oiled
Ready to open

The lock of her soul
Has been Adjusted
The dials and combinations
Tweaked and set
To just the right range
No longer needing
To change
For another

She's one of a kind
And is looking to find
A key that fits
Without sharp edges
Or a missing nitch
She's been smoothed
by life's experiences
Not willing to accept an
Ill fitting key

His was only an ignition key, you see
That started her locked up engine
Accelerating her into completion
He may have been the ignition
But the car is hers
He allowed her to find
The top of her speed limit
She pushed the pedal
The rest of the way
To the locksmith
But his key didn't fit
Any where else

No more imitations
She has no limitations
She can honestly see
He who holds the key
Will be just like me
Complete, content
Perfectly sequenced
And ridged, notches smooth
Walking the walk
Not willing to accept
An ill fitting lock

The impression we make is usually the impression we receive though opposites seem to attract better than those that are the same polarity.Belief is we model after our parents girls find one like dad and boys one like mom at least in functional families. nice poise of your anology

your quite welcome
this is interesting---i see where a lover or partner can unlock a heart, a soul, a mind, a body...but that doesn't mean he or she can control it...just like a car...it can be started, (ignition) but we are our own drivers with our own destinations...and no one can steer us but we.

another really cool metaphor.

Thanks Jacob! That is for sure. We are our own drivers in our life. So many times people want some.. read more
Since we have starting mentoring each other your work has been spot on and brilliant. The mentorship we have gathered from an array of writers here has given our gifts unlimited depth, width and height as life has given a endless field to chose from. The sad thing about this poem is the ignition key you speak off is original in all its flaws but you have been fooled thinking a valet key is as good as the original. It may start the car but it has no access to the glove compartment or the trunk. Very proud of you.

P.S. I noticed you didn't speak of the valet key or a spare key maybe that could be part 2?
