Hers:
The student highlighting her textbook letter Pressured by a new semester to do better The affair with her English professor Over now, leaving her feeling lesser Of a woman His: She's huddled in the corner Nothing spectacular A plain Jane generation X y chromosome Tech child Trying to carve out Her existence By taking a byte Out of apple Sadly she is misinformed Hers: A Young contractor sending out estimates Wanting to get that job He's got a baby on the way But he's not ready yet to fully be a man He can't stand the responsibilities Of this grown up life His: Her big a*s hangs Over the bar stool As her weight Has it screaming for Mercy Fingers still sticky From the syrup She poured on The mountains Of flap jacks That she had With Coke Zero Cause she is Counting calories? Hers: Stay at home moms Disheveled in their sweat pants Sneakers And messy hair Just trying to find a moment Away from the never ending exhaustion Of parenting His: A half bottle of Overpriced water Sits in front of her Her fake patent like leather Shoes squeak with cheapness As the crack of her a*s Is exposed I am hoping that Her underwear Don't have holes Or worse she Is bare underneath Those Walmart Polyester pants From the clearance Rack Hers: The retired couple In the winter of their life Watching the hustle and bustle Of the employed Sipping their lattes With no hurry Amidst the flurry Around them I hear a bird chirping in the ceiling of this coffee shop Watchfully waiting for the barista to steam a nest of comfort for him And here we sit On this stolen morning The lion and the lamb Writing and reading Words To inspire and stimulate Each other For this moment Theirs: She came into the Starbucks Unexpected Her cheap wig trying to hide her nappy hair She reached into her second hand knock off purse Retrieving pennies she earned From her minimum wage job Taking a moment for herself To look around, to see Where she could fit in Her skin Dark and smooth She stands at the edge of the counter Waiting for her name to be called Her Carmel macchiato is more than she can afford Now we sit and stare at each other Basking in the moment That we stole unexpectedly Dreaming of more For now, the lamb avoided The slaughter And the lion is left with an empty belly © 2015 JennesisReviews
