The Phoenix is rising up
No longer burning
But learning
Though the ashes still smolder
She's wiser and older
The Phoenix is rising up
From the depths of her pain
Where her other paths remain
Roads not taken
A soul awakened
She's not burning
She's Learning
About who she really is
She's broken free
Of expectations
And definitions
From the lies they tell
From the lies she tells herself
The Phoenix is rising up
No longer burning
But learning
To spread her wings
Her soul sings
A new song
This soundtrack starts
Now so strong
A powerful melody
Written to her memory
The Phoenix is rising up
For the first time
She sees herself
Full
Without need
Complete
Without the pull
Of should haves
And would haves
The Phoenix is rising up
Shaking off the ashes
Finding her power
From the wholeness of
Her feminine soft flower
The Phoenix has risen up
Taken flight
Into the light
Of dawn
Of a new day
It's best to stay out of her way
Born from destruction
A Jennesis construction

Every once in a while, Jenn, one comes across something that speaks to them in a voice so deep and meaningful it virtually steals the breath and quickens the heart.
This unusually outstanding Free Style verse from your own heart and soul does this to me, and I do not say it lightly, for i have read literally thousands of poems; yet, this one is special, in that it is exemplary in its expression of rebirth and the finding of one's dormant greater-self, in such a way that feels real, honest, and sincere to the senses, my instincts and intuition.
Surely, your poetical skills are more than obvious by the word choices and their arrangement, your grasp for knowing where line-breaks should naturally be, the spot-on rhyming couplets and intermittent rhymes formed to effortlessly flow, letting the reader know this is not your first rodeo.
Ah, but lost in my appreciation and exuberance, I'm chattering-on, wearing out my welcome and becoming a bore … let's close by saying I love it all, am so very grateful to you for sharing this part of yourself so unselfishly, and it has been quite exciting getting to know a bit of your depths through this amazing piece.
Thank you honestly and sincerely, Fine Lady-Poet! ⁓ Richard

I've given myself a gift this morning just letting myself read some poetry. And it is always so amazing to me how good everyone is. I sometimes wonder if I am holding up. So I really appreciate it.

May your day be as lovely as the one you wish for me! RJ : )
This is the fifth I've read - your "voice" is melodious and unique, aware and sensitive. I like hearing your thoughts BECAUSE you speak them.
